Outdoor Learning Day 2021
The rain didn't spoil our Outdoor Learning today!
Year One are learning about size. We had lots of discussions on Big and small. We set up some fun activities which you will see in our photos.
We practised our key words by jumping in big and small hoops and shouting out the word.
We learned that it was easier to throw the beanbags into the big box because "there was more space".
We learned that the big truck can go a longer distance when we raced because "it has bigger wheels".
We filled different sized cups with water and had a race to see who could fill the container the quickest. The big cup won because "it holds more water".
We used our counting skils to gather leaves and make some sets. The children used the smaller cups for the smaller numbers because "there's more leaves needed for the bigger numbers so the cup needs to be bigger to hold them". The children also correctly sequenced the numbers.
We decided to make a bridge from one tree to the other. There was alot of problem solving skills developed when putting the blocks together. One child told everyone it was a "cube" so they all worked together to make more cubes for the bridge. They balanced carefully to cross the bridge using their arms too help. Great communication and language was developed and the children had so much fun.
A super fun day of learning in Year One 😊
